🇵🇱 Journey Through Poland's Jewish Heritage

Rediscovering 1,000 Years of History, Memory & Renewal

A Legacy Rediscovered

Prior to the Holocaust, Poland hosted Europe's most substantial Jewish population outside America—three million souls representing an extraordinary spectrum of Jewish life. From mystical Hasidic communities to forward-thinking secular scholars, from celebrated Yiddish authors to passionate Zionists and socialist activists, Polish Jewish society thrived in remarkable diversity and cultural richness.

Today, a profound renaissance is underway. Jewish heritage in Poland experiences a powerful revival as new generations reclaim and celebrate this millennium-old legacy. Where the Warsaw Ghetto once stood, an internationally acclaimed museum now chronicles ten centuries of Polish Jewish history. Vibrant cultural festivals attract global audiences, while prestigious academic institutions foster groundbreaking research in Jewish studies, illuminating stories once nearly lost to time.

Our expedition launches in Warsaw, exploring the magnificent Museum of the History of Polish Jews alongside powerful memorial sites throughout the capital—the monument commemorating the Ghetto Uprising, the bunker at Mila 18, and Umschlagplatz, the gathering point for deportations to death camps. We then journey to Lublin, discovering significant landmarks that span from profound tragedy to inspiring revival.

In Łańcut, we'll experience an exquisitely restored synagogue before continuing to historic Kraków, once a flourishing center of Jewish life. The Kazimierz district reveals surviving houses of worship, a pre-war cemetery, and Europe's grandest medieval marketplace. Our path includes sobering visits to Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau, with dedicated time for reflection and meaningful dialogue about what we witness.

Distinguished scholar Lynne Feldman from Jewish Heritage Travel accompanies us throughout, delivering insightful presentations and expert commentary that deepens our connection to this pivotal chapter of Jewish civilization. Excursions to Tarnów and Gliwice introduce us to dedicated local preservationists safeguarding Jewish memory in smaller communities. Together, we'll honor the immense losses endured, celebrate centuries of vibrant cultural achievement, and observe the extraordinary Jewish renaissance flourishing across Poland today.
